As the world rushes by on this bus trip I do ride
Going on an adventure to this wild and open land
And what will I find O what will I spy
On this ride
The shield and the trees the snow on fallen leaves
Waterfalls seem to be frozen for all time
Birds in the sky the sun shining high
So high
Well the moss on the pine the crooked dogwood vine
Where the critters build and tend their homes
As we pound down this road O through the hills we go
We go
And the rivers and the lakes are seamless and I take
A breath of fresh air
But now home is calling me and I must take my leave
And head for my own
So I’ll turn one last stone and head toward my home
My adventure is coming to an end
For the weekend is done
And there’s no more time for fun.
For fun
Calm winter sky
I see the smoke rise
From chimney top to chimney to the clear and bright light
Cold winter wind
Stings my skin
When it blows on by as the morning sun begins
To shine O shine
When it blows on by as the sun begins to shine
Midday is here
A little warmer is the air
But what of those outside for whom nobody cares
Out of luck and alone
On the street on their own
Just trying to stay warm with a subway vent for home
For home O home
Trying to stay warm with a subway vent for home
The evening settles in
As the bright lights dim
The chimney smoke still rises carried on the night time wind
Just one more night alone
With no shelter, no home
The city streets are heartless when there’s nowhere else to go
To go O go
The city streets are heartless when there’s nowhere else to go
The wheels they spin as the tines dig in
Behind the tractor tilling
We plough the land we live
To get by with God willing
And we’ll prey for rain to bring life to the earth
So our crops might flourish and grow
And come harvest time we reap our yield
And a selling our goods we’ll go
Well the winter begins and the frost sets in
And the wheat stocks shrivel and die
And we have to live on what we’ve sown
To sustain ourselves and get by
Then we’ll prey for the sun to bring warmth to the earth
So our crops might flourish and grow
And when it’s spring again we’ll plant our seeds
And a working the land we’ll go
Well the wheels they spin as the tines dig in
Behind the tractor tilling
We plough the land we live
To get by with God willing
And we’ll prey for rain to bring life to the earth
So our crops might flourish and grow
Come harvest time we reap our yield
And a selling our goods we’ll go
And we’ll prey for the sun to bring warmth to the earth
So our crops might flourish and grow
And when it’s spring again we’ll plan our seeds
And a working the land we’ll go
I’ll keep you warm all night long
Keep you warm through winter’s song
But as long as He is here
O we’ll be warm all the year
The snowflakes dance, icy ballet
Icicles hang, on rooftops stay
But as long as He is here
O we’ll be warm all the year
So I’ll keep you warm all night long
Keep you warm through winter’s song
But as long as He is here
O we’ll be warm all the year
Yes as long as He is here
O we’ll be warm all the year
Look up way up see the sun shinning
Look up way up see the clouds moving
Gracefully, gracefully
With the jet stream
So look up once again see the bird pulled astray
Way off to the right see a plane fly away
It disappears, disappears
With the jet stream
So look up just once more see the leaves on the trees
And slowly one by one watch as they fall down at your feet
All because of, all because of
All because of jet stream
All because of, all because of
All because of jet stream
Watching you shop making your home
Tore me apart made me feel all alone
And spending the evening together with you
Laughing and joking a drink, or two
Made it feel like old times again
When watching that movie together again
It seems so hard just to act like friends
After the break up changed our lives
And watching you grow up in front of my eyes
Made me want you back again
But life goes on this to me is ever clearer now
And I’ll move on I’ll find a way some how
And like those leaves that fall toward the ground
My heart breaking won’t make a sound
Well I can’t stop the longing for you
I can’t shake it off no matter what I do
So I’ll just remember all the good time
And put all the hurt in the back of my mind
And hope that I will love again
But life goes on this to me is ever clearer now
And I’ll move on I’ll find a way some how
And like those leaves that fall toward the ground
My heart breaking won’t make a sound
Got out of bed this morning the snow was coming down
I heard the weather man say six inches on the ground
I grabbed boots and grabbed my hat and off to work I go
Another day of struggling in the bleeding snow
These winter days don’t change
It’s how they always seem to go
The bus was packed and stinking hot and sweaty too
The subway train was full and there wasn’t any room
If and when you get pushed out you’ve made it out alive
You got out of there unscathed with all your limbs and both your eyes
You might just get to work on time
If time is on your side
I remember nine years old when schooling was my game
Mom would drag me out of be screaming an in pain
I’d fake a cough I’d fake a cold I didn’t want to go
I’d want another afternoon playing in the winter snow
But things aren’t that way anymore
It just plain isn’t so
But not that I’m all grown up I’m working like a mule
I’m running out of money and running out of fuel
I’d rather be here picking on my old guitar
Then moving heavy boxes and pulling on these carts
At the rate that I am going
I’ll soon need a brand new heart
At the rate that I am going
I’ll soon need a brand new heart
When she came in to the subway car
I lost my breath she stopped my heart
With her eyes of blue and brown hair too
I didn’t know what I should think
I couldn’t move a muscle not even blink
But I had to try at least to say hi
‘Cause all I want is someone to return my love
To return my love
Well every time’s the same as I recall
I lose my will, I fall
But I rise again in the end
But this time was different I made my play
I didn’t win but I didn’t lose face
Well I’m learning now and somehow
I’ll find somebody to return my love
To return my love
Mother washes baby’s clothes
In a sewer ditch by the road
O over there that’s how it goes
Children playing in the street
Passing soldier’s smiles to meet
Do they feel the desert heat
From afar explosions ring
But no one looks it’s a common thing
Ahh then the bullets start to sing
A little girl starts to cry
Standing by her mother’s side
O my God what a site
As I look on from my L.A.V
I think about what they don’t have
How can anyone live like that
How does one measure worth
What comes last and what comes first
O the less you have the less you thirst
Falling lightly on my back
An institution where we’re packed
Into little rooms with vivid green doors
Where the mind is changed
Foot steps slip on snow covered ice
Which blends into the surrounding white
Feel the wind and hear it howl
As it blows the snow along
Falling heavily now on my way home
I never know where I’m going to roam
I’ve lost my step and I’ve fallen down in the snow
Up again and moving along
In this world full of so many wrongs
I don’t know where I am I don’t know where I’m going
How long will I be gone
Small boats on the water
A small world away
Out on the horizon
In the light of the day
I see a lone bird in flight
Tail caught by the wind
Our sales full under strain now
Our journey begins
And I wonder what will happen
What He’s got in store for me
As I sail to my freedom
In this hurricane see
Big ships in the harbour
But not like before
What’s happened to our country
We’ve closed out own door
Big city corruption
And rural demise
They want one solid skyline
A soar to out eyes
And I wonder what will happen
What He’s got in store for me
As I sail to my freedom
In this hurricane see
Yes I wonder what will happen
What He’s got in store for me
As I sail through to my freedom
In this hurricane see
What you see isn’t always what you get
You’ve got to look behind the mask
It isn’t plain to see that we’re not always what we seem to be
now your task
Is to realize
What you see through your rose coloured glasses
When they paint for you a scene
And you are fooled like all the masses
the masses
There are myths and there are truths and you must find the clues
to solve the hanous crime
Think for yourself and let no one else
control your mind
And realize
What you see through your rose coloured glasses
When they paint for you a see
And you get fooled like all the masses
The masses
Realize
What you see through your rose coloured glasses
When they pain for you a scene
And you get fooled like all masses
The poor masses
If I could open your mind and see what’s inside
You know I’d try
To look through your eyes
I wait impatiently just to see
What you would say
If I asked you to stay
With me for a while
I wanna see your smile
And you’ll ask me why
Well I love your pretty blue eyes
I cry all of the time all through the night
And so my heart bleeds
Each time you leave
And the pain that I hold inside of my skin
Is why I can’t bear
To be anywhere
But with you
O girl you know it’s true
And you’ll ask me why
I love your pretty blue eyes
Yes I love your pretty blue eyes
Sunlight and warm air
Children playing everywhere
If you look, you’ll see
How the world really is
Well day go by so slow
But time seems to fly
When you’re having fun
With the world your heart
You hate the feeling when you’re falling down
You hit rock bottom and you’re on the ground
You greet your friends with a smile
But you’ve not been happy for a while
Should I take life seriously, or as a joke
I loosing my mind because I never know
But when I talk things out
I lose all my doubts
I sit with friends and talk over lunch
I say nothing but I learn a bunch
Well that’s just the way I am
With friends I know where I stand
We take it easy we take it slow
Forget what’s around us we let time go
Then I start to feel pretty good
I feel wanted like I should
I feel like you should when your friends are there
And all around this place
There’s laughter in the air
Telling tales of adventure and life
Friendly gossip of each other’s plights
So here we are at Cafe Mirage
There are ornate pillars and a greek collage
Art is painted on the walls
There are indoor street lamps and all
Now lunch is over and our tie is done
There’s no more cafe conversation
Well I feel alright
Ready to carry on with life
Carry on with life, carry on with life
O no I can’t keep going on
No way
It’s just too hard for me
Do do do do do do do
When I look at you I see
An image of beauty
With whom I cannot be
With you I cannot be
Though I love you
We will never be
O no I can’t keep going on
No way
It’s just too hard for me
Do do do do do do do
Every night I think of you
And thank God that we met
I’d ask Him for your love
This love I cannot get
Though I’ve tried many times
With each attempt I’ve failed
O no I can’t keep going on
No way
It's just too hard for me
Do do do do do do do
Well it’s alright by me if you want to move around right now
And it’s fine by me if you want to stay alone right now
It’s alright by me I just want you to see I’ll wait for you
Well I always look forward to the sunlight in your smile
And I’ll jump at the chance just to make our time worth while
Because the little time we spend is like a lifetime to me
Well it’s alright by me if you want to move around right now
And it’s fine by me if you want to stay alone right now
It’s alright by me I just want you to see I’ll wait for you
From station to station we ride
Diesel smoke in the sky
It’s here that we must part
But we’ll keep in touch by mail
And we may meet again some day
On the inter-city rail
From Pickering to Hamilton, from Stoville to home
I ride by night on the GO
And it’s here that we must part
But we’ll keep in touch by mail
And we may meet again some day
On the inter-city rail
Well the big drive wheels pound along the tracks
And I don’t know if I’ll be coming back
And it’s here that we must part
But we’ll keep in touch by mail
And we may meet again some day
She says it here we must part
We may keep in touch by mail
We may meet again some day
On the inter-city rail
Sometimes I seem to be
Lost on the rolling sea
On my square-rigger with my sails unfurled
Hoping for God to guide me in this world
Caught between waves, tossed by the storm
Searching for land to be safe and warm
I’ve checked my charts and I’m way off course
No rock, no lighthouse, no dock, no port
And so I’ll return to my cabin xx
Where my hammock sways with the rolling sea
I’ll triangulate and plot the wind
And sail my way to the stormy end
Then hoist the mainsail, get underway
Let the Lord blow me home this day
They’ll calm the skies, no rain, no hail
But a strong breeze to fill my sails
I’ll stay the course, straight and true
And I’ll be home before the day is through
And I’ll drop anchor by northern town
With friends and family all around
And sometimes I seem to be
Lost on the rolling sea
On my square-rigger with the sails unfurled
Hoping for God to guide me in this world
My time, my place convene at your face
Because you’re all the there is to me
And the world could not divide the feelings I’ve inside
Because you’re all that there is to me
O and you’re all I have ever wanted
You’re all a man could need
If I could have the choice I’d listen to your voice
Forever, all the time
And my thoughts were all askew when you said you love me too
Well the words they still ring in my mind
O you’re all I have ever wanted
You’re all I man could need
Well the world could not divide the feelings I’ve inside
Because you’re all that there is to me
O you’re all the there is to me
Woke up this morning feeling fine
Not much on my mind, my mind
But another night with you would be ok
Though I’d be fine anyway, anyway
I want you to be there
To run your fingers in my hair
I dreamt last night of the fallen snow
Where did it all go, did your love go
Then I thought on all the crazy things I’d do
For another night with you, with you
And I want you to be there
To run your fingers in my hair
The I realized it was all a dream
It wasn’t what it seemed, it seemed
And so I got to think about life
How I going to take a wife, take a wife
And I want you to be there
To run your fingers through my hair
Yes I want you to be there
Because I want someone who cares
Our time online has meant so much
Even thought I don’t feel your touch right now
But that’s how I know you
Well I’d talk to you and read your type
We'd chat for hours until the morning light
And then we’d say goodnight
And so
Let's go
I’ll see you there
Well I’d set a time you'd set a date
Then I’d get mad when you are late
Then we’d forget the upset
And talk anyway
Maybe we’ve met before
On the sidewalk, or at the corner store
But I don’t mind we meet all the time
And so
Let’s go
I’ll see you there
Glowing bluish orange
Trails of grey clouds meet the building tops
Rolling into town
On the D.V.P
The tower is seen from afar
And I seem to get caught in the sky
It’s endless, endless like eternity
Well darker slowly now
Daylight fades away
The city lights up the sky
Bright like halogen
Street lights become the sun
At night they light up the world
I seem to get caught in the sky
The skyline
The city skyline at night
City skyline at night
No point in wasting the day away
I’d rather be awake
The sun’s shining the love is strong
It’s been this way all day long
It’s hard to believe that anything could go wrong
On such a beautiful Sunday
I’m here waiting
She’s there praying
What’s God got in store for us
Will she be staying
It’s hard to believe that anything could go wrong
On such a beautiful Sunday
You’ve been in my head all day long
You just don’t know it
And each time that I try
I just can’t show it
It’s hard to believe that anything could go wrong
On such a beautiful Sunday
The road of life is hard and fast and long
But it’s a beautiful Sunday
I loved you endlessly
But you didn’t see, no you didn’t see
I am beguiled
Each time I see your pretty smile
Now I know that you don’t care at all about me
Yes now I know that you don’t care at all about me
I’d call you on the phone
Get no answer, think no one was home
You kept ignoring me
Constantly and now I see
That you didn’t care at all about me, about me
Yes now I know that you don’t care at all about me
I gave my heart to you
Got nothing back and now I’m through
Because now I know that you don’t care at all about me
Yes now I know that you don’t care at all about me
Mary-Anne the maiden of my dreams
It seems you’ve become a reality
Though I know that all is not well
I’m helpless bound to you by your spell
And when I watch you as you walk along the shore
Once more I ask what the trouble is for
All my time’s spent alone you see
Except for when she wants me
Hmmmmmm hmmmmmmm....
Oh Mary-Anne when will you set me free
From the pain that you cause inside of me
Why can’t I leave you, push you away
Oh let me go
Mary-Anne the maiden of my dreams
It seems you’ve become a reality
Though I know that all is not well
Still I’m helpless bound to you by your spell
As the air cools down all around
And the daylight fades away
I put my thoughts on you like your right next to me
To ease the night
Ease the night
Ease the night
Every single day I feel the pain
But when the world’s a sleep
I put my thoughts on you like your right next to me
To ease the night
Ease the night
Ease the night
Watching things move around in our little town
And its like you’re a million miles away
But my thoughts they’re on you like your right next to me
To ease the night
Ease the night
Ease the night
So as the air cools down all around
And the sunlight fades away
I put my thoughts on you because you’re right next to me
To ease the night
Ease the night
Ease the night
O when you looked at me I thought it couldn’t be
So I had to think again and I knew just what I wanted then
It was you and only you
That made me love you too
Well you melted my heart you caught me by surprise
O you caught me off guard, by the beauty of your eyes
It was you and only you
That made me love you too
Well amazing as you are above me like a shining star
You cleared a path for me and it’s only now that I see
That you and only you
Made me love you too
When you looked at me I thought it couldn’t be
So I had to think again and I knew just what I wanted then
It was you and only you
That made me love you too
Yes it’s you and only you
That made me want you too
Well the snow is falling all around
The cold wind is blowing through our little town
Two young lovers snuggle under the covers
And each other is all they can think about right now
They’ve got delusions of grandeur and love
Delusions of grandeur and love
Well maybe it’s wishful thinking on their part
But they know that they love each other at heart
And they know that their love is young and strong
And I hope that their dreams will come true before long
Their delusions of grandeur and love
Delusions of grandeur and love
When I look at them I wonder how it can be
That two people together could be so happy
Well it’s quite clear they’ve been struck by little Cupid’s arrow
And I hope that their love will only grow
Like their delusions of grandeur and love
Delusions of grandeur and love
And they think that it’s weird
Because it happened so quickly it made them begin to believe
In their delusions of grandeur and love
Delusions of grandeur and love
Delusions of grandeur and love
What have I done
Please tell me cause I don’t know
Is it that I’ve made a fool of you
What did I do
Only you can say what’s wrong
Yes only you can open up and tell me
Did I make a big mistake
And do wrong by you
If you relate to me the problem
I’ll see what I can do
But only can say what’s wrong
Yes only you can let me in and tell me
What did I do
It’s so good just to be nice once in a while
That feeling that you get when you make somebody smile
Oh that feeling in the end
When you’ve made yourself a friend
And thought sometimes it might seem tough
When everything you give it seems is not enough
But you give it anyway
You give it all and pray
Charity is the only way
That you’ll feel the love that you feel that day
When it’s your turn
And then when you least expect
When you’re down and you’ve had it up to your neck
Somebody turns and then
You’ve got yourself a friend
So all the love that abounds
All the people that you surround
All of your family and friends
Because you gave it all again
Oh charity is the only way
That you’ll feel the love that you feel that day
When it’s your turn
So it seems that you regained faith
Faith in the human race
Because you’d lost it once before
And now it’s knocking at your door
Oh charity is the only way
That you’ll feel the love that you feel that day
When it’s your turn
Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever live
To see my Kids grow up
I think it’s amazing how we’ve gone this far
It seems just to give up
It’ll be ok I guarantee
Mark my words on this
And in the end we’ll get through
I guarantee it
Woo oo I guarantee it
The world is changing every day
For better or for worse
People don’t realize what they say
Or what this life is worth
It’ll be ok I guarantee
And in the end we’ll get through
I guarantee it
Woo oo I guarantee it
Seasons keep turning, moving on
Weather or not we want them to
But don’t stop living just carry on
And I promise that you’ll get through
It’ll be ok I guarantee
And in the end we’ll get through
I guarantee it
Woo oo I guarantee it
Fire glowing it’s snowing and cold outside
You here the wind blow through cracks in windows from where you hide
In your bed tonight
Away from the cold and fright
You keep the warmth in where it all begins
In the distance you see the existence of cars gone by
You feel the frost and you see the exhaust and then you sigh
You’re feeling the cold
The night is growing old
So you wonder back in to where it all begins
Take off your hat you pet the cat you’re back from town
You want to eat then you want to sleep so you lie down
In your bed
Where you’ve always laid your head
And you’re glad you cam back in to where it all begins
Home home
Home home
I never knew how much you meant to
Till you were gone
But now I hope that you will see
That your life is wrong
And now sometimes you fine
That I’m always on your mind
And if you don’t believe me
Ask and you shall receive
Now you know how much I meant to you
Yes you’ve found that it’s true
And you, you can’t understand
Well girl you know I’m your man
Now sometimes you fine
That I’m always on your mind
And if you don’t believe me
Ask and you shall receive
Now sometimes you fine
That I’m always on your mind
And if you don’t believe me
O Lord
Ask and you shall receive
