Got out of bed this morning the snow was coming down
I heard the weather man say six inches on the ground I grabbed boots and grabbed my hat and off to work I go
Another day of struggling in the bleeding snow
These winter days don’t change
It’s how they always seem to go
The bus was packed and stinking hot and sweaty too
The subway train was full and there wasn’t any room
If and when you get pushed out you’ve made it out alive
You got out of there unscathed with all your limbs and both your eyes
You might just get to work on time
If time is on your side
I remember nine years old when schooling was my game
Mom would drag me out of be screaming an in pain
I’d fake a cough I’d fake a cold I didn’t want to go
I’d want another afternoon playing in the winter snow
But things aren’t that way anymore
It just plain isn’t so
But not that I’m all grown up I’m working like a mule
I’m running out of money and running out of fuel
I’d rather be here picking on my old guitar
Then moving heavy boxes and pulling on these carts
At the rate that I am going
I’ll soon need a brand new heart
At the rate that I am going
I’ll soon need a brand new heart
